Multi-URL Smart Routing

Multi-URL Smart Routing lets you direct different scanners to different destinations from one printed QR code — based on their device, browser language, day of week, or time of day.
What is smart routing
You define a list of routing rules. Each rule says: IF [condition] THEN redirect to [URL]. Rules are evaluated in order — the first matching rule wins. If no rule matches, the QR code falls back to its default destination URL.
Available routing conditions
Device type: iOS, Android, or Desktop. Browser language: English, French, Spanish, German (or any IETF language code). Day of week: Monday through Sunday. Time range: between two times of day (e.g. 09:00–17:00). You can stack multiple conditions using AND logic.
Example: App Store routing
Set rule 1: IF device = iOS → https://apps.apple.com/your-app. Set rule 2: IF device = Android → https://play.google.com/your-app. Fallback: https://yourwebsite.com/app. One QR code, three destinations.
Example: Time-based routing
Set rule 1: IF day = Saturday OR Sunday → https://yoursite.com/weekend-offer. Set rule 2: IF time between 17:00–22:00 → https://yoursite.com/evening-menu. Fallback: https://yoursite.com. Great for restaurants, events, and time-limited offers.
How to set up routing rules
When creating or editing a QR code, expand 'Smart Routing'. Click 'Add Rule', choose your condition type, set the value, and enter the destination URL. Drag rules to reorder them. The fallback URL is your existing destination URL field.

- Always set a sensible fallback URL — smart routing rules cover specific cases, and the fallback handles everything else.
- Use the analytics page to verify which routing rule is being hit most often — this helps you optimise your rules over time.
