Custom Short Domain
Coming soon β Business and Enterprise plans.
A custom short domain lets you replace the Stirling-QR URL in your QR codes with your own branded domain β so every redirect goes through go.yourbrand.com instead of q-rapp-ten.vercel.app/r/.
Why use a custom domain
Branded short domains look more professional on printed materials, reinforce your brand at every scan point, and are more trusted by users who might hesitate to scan an unfamiliar URL. They also protect your analytics data if you ever switch QR platforms.
How to set up your custom domain
Go to Dashboard β Settings β Custom Domain. Enter your subdomain (e.g. go.yourbrand.com). Stirling-QR will show you a CNAME record to add in your domain registrar's DNS settings. Once propagated (typically within minutes), verification is automatic and your QR codes start using the new domain.
What changes when you add a custom domain
All new QR codes in your organisation will use your custom domain in their redirect URLs. Existing QR codes continue to work β you can optionally migrate them to the new domain from the settings page. Both URLs resolve to the same QR code.
Supported DNS record
Add a CNAME record pointing your subdomain to cname.vercel-dns.com. This is the same mechanism used by Vercel-hosted apps β the redirect logic remains unchanged, just the domain name differs.
Type: CNAME
Name: go (or whatever subdomain you chose)
Value: cname.vercel-dns.com
TTL: Autoπ‘ Pro Tips
- Use a short, memorable subdomain like go., scan., or qr. followed by your brand domain.
- Test your custom domain setup by scanning one QR code before rolling it out to a print campaign.
