Cookie Policy

What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They allow the site to remember information about your visit — such as whether you are logged in — so that you do not have to re-enter it on every page.
Cookies are not programs and cannot carry viruses or install malware. They contain only the data placed there by the server and can only be read by the site that created them.
How we use cookies
Stirling-QR uses cookies exclusively for authentication and session management. We do not use advertising cookies, behavioural tracking cookies, or sell any data to third parties.
Cookies we set
| Cookie name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| sb-access-token | Keeps you signed in to your account during your session. | Essential | 1 hour |
| sb-refresh-token | Allows your session to be renewed automatically without requiring you to log in again. | Essential | 60 days |
| active-org-id | Remembers which organisation workspace you last had active so the correct data is shown when you return. | Functional | Session |
All cookies listed above are first-party cookies — they are set directly by Stirling-QR and are not shared with any third party.
Essential cookies
The authentication cookies (sb-access-token and sb-refresh-token) are strictly necessary for the site to function. Without them, you cannot log in, create QR codes, or access your dashboard.
Because they are essential, these cookies are placed on your device as soon as you sign in and do not require your consent under applicable laws. However, you can delete them at any time by signing out, which clears all session cookies.
Cookies we do not use
We do not use any of the following:
- Advertising or retargeting cookies
- Social media tracking pixels
- Third-party analytics cookies (e.g. Google Analytics)
- Cross-site tracking of any kind
QR code scan tracking
When someone scans one of your QR codes, Stirling-QR records data about the scan — such as the country, device type, browser, and time — for the purpose of providing analytics to the QR code owner. This data is collected server-side and does not involve placing any cookies on the scanner's device.
Managing and deleting cookies
You can view, manage, and delete cookies at any time using your browser settings. The instructions differ by browser:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
Please note that deleting or blocking the essential authentication cookies will sign you out of your account and prevent you from accessing the dashboard until you sign in again.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
